Before telling you how to fix it, I will in brief, talk about File Associations.
All my programs now(don't) open with... You have to go to Folder Options and uncheck Hide Extensions for Known File Types. I recommend our File Association Fixer available on The Windows Club. I did the Actions > Reset and that allowed me to open files on the desktop but not folders so I reinstalled Parallel tools and now it works perfectly.
My pc was working fine for about 3 days then something went wrong.
