In Disk Management it shows up a drive with Simple Layout, Basic Type, Status is Healthy (Primary Partition) with Capacity of 1.8TB. I changed the cable and followed your instructions on another computer and I managed to get into the WD drive and copy the files. This problem can be caused by partition issues on your external drive, using the wrong file system, dead USB ports, driver issues in Windows, or other problems. But, when I use a flash drive UFD using Windows PE, to attempt to capture an image, it does recognize the Portable or any other USB drive...in order to CAPTURE the Can't Find Hard Drive Windows 10 it probably did something to the drive to make it not bootable/recognizable considering the fact that another drive booted up just fine in your computer. Ok.

I thought maybe the update messed with my other partitions so I re-installed Arch (which is my boot partition). Can't See External Hard Drive Windows 10 On the Edit menu, click Delete.

That kind of confused me because I thought I just uninstalled it, but either way, maybe for you it doesn't update drivers automatically and you'll have to do it there. me too. Sign in 12 Loading... The pc could see the drive but said it needed formatting.
The thing is, its making this screeching noise when I attach it to the laptop. If the drive does work on other computers — or you don’t have another computer around to test this with — Windows may be having a driver problem with the drive. If the drive does appear to be partitioned, it may be partitioned with the wrong file system. I'm guessing this is part of the problem.
