You may get a better answer to your question by starting a new discussion. Should my Exchange server be able to accept SMTP requests, requiring authentication before I am able to send from external addresses? their network connection was "host-only adapter". Any ideas?? this contact form
From my workstation's command prompt, if I enter "telnet (myserver.domain.local) 25" the screen hangs for a second and then reverts back to the original prompt screen. Telnet to port 25 fails to connect from outside. If anything resembles an Antivirus sink, DISABLE it and restart the SMTP protocol (do not delete anything!). _____________________________Ibrahim Benna - Microsoft Exchange MVP Forum Moderator Navantis @IbrahimBenna (in reply to urbanriot) When I moved the files back and forth I lost the permissions for that account.
Hope this helps someone with a similar problem. secure, proper configuration, and best practice enabled.. Towards that end, your post ...

Everything seems to be working properly except for incoming mail. I'm thinking that the NAT is not configured to route the SMTP port 25 request to the Exchange server. To get transport to resume submissions, you can use any of the following methods. navigate here Access is granted to all subnets including localhost, and I can't even access from the server itself.
Message submission resumes. Now keep in mind, everyone's e-mail is working (we use Outlook 2003-2010) and there are no issues with this. If so, change it to All Unassigned and restart the SMTP service. _____________________________Ibrahim Benna - Microsoft Exchange MVP Forum Moderator Navantis @IbrahimBenna (in reply to urbanriot) Post #: 10 RE: Can't
Also, most modern email software requires considerable effort to be configured to operate as an open relay. I was rdp'ing into another server, which was rdp'd to the server in question, oops. I still can't access but I won't have the ability to reboot until the evening... If I run SMTPDIAG.EXE, I receive the following: Error: Expected "220". due to issues that we where having being classified as spammers, it has been pushed on to me to make our mail server more.. Correct. If you're getting a server did not respond type message that may indicate the potential that something on the network (firewall/router) blocking SMTP traffic as opposed to a receive connector configuration.
