Anything that I type using HyperTerm or TeraTerm doesn't show up (it sits at the OMAP3 beagleboard.org # prompt). However, after rebooting there is no way to log in for me. Then you can log in again and upgrade libpam-modules and libpam-runtime to the 1.0.3+ versions.
